Advanced Diver Certification

The Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed for qualified scuba divers who wish to increase their knowledge, skills, comfort level, and enjoyment of diving. Upon completion of this course, divers will have advanced diving skills and knowledge.

Part of the Advanced course that we offer includes calculation of your SAC (surface air consumption) rate which is vital for proper dive planning. As well, students will deploy a surface marker buoy in the open water, a skill that might look easy but takes a bit of practice to perfect.

Graduation Requirements:

  • Logged a minimum of 25 open water dives upon completion of the course
  • Completed 4 Specialty Diver certifications
  • Advanced knowledge demonstration
  • Advanced diving skills performance
All dives, including those engaged in during specialty diving course, may be credited towards the individual's Advanced Diver requirement of 25 logged open water dives. From the list of Specialty Diver courses, the instructor can recommend courses which will be helpful to the graduate.

An Advanced Diver candidate should perform the basic skills of scuba diving expertly and with confidence, demonstrate ease and familiarity under pressing conditions. Through the completion of various specialty courses, the diver will gain knowledge and competence of various scuba diving specialty topics.

Equipment Requirements:
In addition to scuba gear, students will require the following items for the duration of the course (some items may not be available for rent):

  • Primary dive light
  • Backup dive light
  • Dive Knife
  • Underwater slate
  • Underwater compass
  • Surface Marker Buoy (safety sausage)
  • Dive reel (preferably finger reel)
Course fees do not include transportation, accommodation, equipment, air fills, etc.
