Advanced Nitrox Course

This course examines the use of EAN-21 through 100% oxygen for optimal mixes to a depth of 40 msw / 130 fsw. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for utilizing EAN-21 through 100% oxygen for dives not requiring staged decompression. Decompression techniques may be combined with this course. See Decompression Procedures Course.

Upon successful completion of the course, graduates may engage in diving activities utilizing EAN-21 through 100% oxygen without direct supervision so long as the diving activities, areas of activities, and environmental conditions approximate those of training

Upon successful completion of the course, graduates may enrol in the TDI Extended Range Course and TDI Decompression Procedures Course.

A student must:

  • Be a minimum age of eighteen (18) or fifteen (15) with parental consent.
  • Have a minimum certification of TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent
  • Show proof of twenty-five (25) logged open water dives.

Training Material & Equipment Required:

  • TDI Advanced Nitrox Diving manual
  • Alternate second stage octopus attached to a primary regulator OR a redundant scuba unit (min 13 cf)
  • Submersible pressure gauge
  • Depth gauge and automatic bottom timer or dive computer
  • Buoyancy compensator appropriate for equipment configuration
  • Cylinder and regulator properly labelled and cleaned as required for EAN mixtures
  • Access to oxygen analyzer
  • Exposure protection appropriate for local diving condition
  • Other equipment requirements may apply, check with instructor

The Advanced Nitrox Manual is the text-book literary assistant to the TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver certification course. This TDI course will help develop the mindset and practical skills necessary to optimize nitrox breathing mixtures for scuba divers. After completing the course, participants will be able to make choices based on operational and logistical concerns in order to best suit their mission parameters and personal needs. The Advanced Nitrox Diver course is the first step in taking scuba diving beyond the usual sport-diving applications.
