Assistant Instructor Certification

The Assistant Instructor Course has been developed to encourage and prepare the assistant instructor for future instructor training and positions of leadership within scuba diving. This program provides a means for the assistant instructor to gain knowledge and expertise in teaching methods and group control. This is accomplished by having the assistant instructor work and teach with a qualified instructor during actual classroom, pool, or confined water, plus actual open water training sessions. This program will also familiarize the Assistant Instructor candidate with class organization, program development, and administration procedures.

 

Prerequisites for Assistant Instructor Course

  • Eighteen, (18) years of age or older
  • Be a certified Divemaster or equivalent
  • Meet all physical requirements; have a current medical statement form on file
  • Hold a current CPR and First Aid certificate
  • Have minimum of 40 logged open water dives
  • Provide own scuba diving equipment; including but not limited to BC, regulators, gauges, wet/dry suit, etc
Diving Bonaire
Course fees do not include textbook, transportation, accommodation, equipment, air fills, etc.

This Divemaster manual details the overall knowledge, education, and skills that a candidate seeking professional certification as an SDI Divemaster, TDI Technical Divemaster, or SDI Assistant Instructor is expected to have a firm understanding of. In addition to a total comprehension of the information in this manual, successful completion of this program is required. The Divemaster Manual, paired with the corresponding Knowledge Quest Work Booklet, will assist those interested in accomplishing the Divemaster course. The information and topics explained within this Divemaster course will enable each candidate to make the developmental transition from diver to dive professional.

SDI Standards & Procedures Manual

This product contains all pertinent information necessary to do business as a SDI Instructor. The SDI Standards and Procedures is intended to be an instructor's guide to providing safe and enjoyable training to scuba divers, as well as a reference for the rules and regulations that SDI/TDI/ERDI instructors implement to achieve consistency and quality. This item outlines the vital "core knowledge" that each student needs to achieve their respective certification level. Finally this product is intended to help effectively deliver the skills and knowledge students need. The Standards & Procedures material comes within a full sized SDI Standards and Procedures three-ring binder.
